A tutor from City of Wolverhampton College had her waist-length hair chopped off for Comic Relief.

Ruth Lock, a computing tutor at the college’s Wellington Road campus, took the step to raise money for the charity in recognition of the work it does to support those diagnosed with dementia and raise awareness of the devastating effect it has on their lives and those of their family members.

The charity chop was carried out by one of the college’s hairdressing students at the Welllington Road campus in Bilston on Friday 13 March.

Ruth, whose mother died of vascular dementia in 2013, said: “Everyone keeps telling me I’m brave to have my hair cut off but I don’t see why – it’s just hair and will soon grow back.”
