A new boxing academy has been launched at City of Wolverhampton College – enabling people to combine training in the sport with studying for industry-recognised qualifications.

The one-year full-time programme focuses on boxing fitness, skills, techniques and lifestyle, and students will train up to four times a week with England Boxing-affiliated professional coaches as well as take part in strength and conditioning sessions.

As part of the programme, participants will also study for qualifications in gym instructing, personal training, and strengthening and conditioning, and work towards gaining their professional England Boxing coaching qualifications.

Dan Clarke, curriculum manager for leisure industries at the college said: “The new academy is ideal for anyone with an interest in boxing and physical fitness and will enable students to combine developing their boxing skills with gaining a range of qualifications which, in turn, will lead to a range of employment opportunities in the industry in the future.”

The boxing academy is being delivered in partnership with Plyofit Elite Boxing Training and will run at the college’s Wellington Road campus in Bilston.

The academy will be holding an open evening on Tuesday, June 22, 6pm-7pm – find out more and register for the event here
