Art, Design and Media (Interior Design) UAL Level 2 Award

This course is for learners that have completed our UAL Level 1 Interior Design previously and wish to extend and advance your knowledge in the methods and techniques required for creating interiors to be proud of!

You will learn advanced techniques in applying and matching in colours, lighting, and furnishings and further investigate how they can transform rooms into positive, vibrant and inspiring places to work or relax and gain the skills to set up your own interior design business. You will develop your creative thinking to behave like a designer and confidently choose colours, patterns and furnishings that are practical, good-looking and compliment the room or alternative space that you are designing.

The course is accredited by the University of the Arts London Awarding Body (UAL) - a specialist awarding body offering up-to-date qualifications in the creative industries. It is owned by, and based within, University of the Arts London.

City of Wolverhampton College is the only college in the Black Country and one of only a few in the Midlands to be accredited and offer qualifications from the University of Arts London.

To access this course you are required to have:

  • Level 2 in English
  • Previously have completed and achieved the UAL Level 1 qualification in Art and Design (Interior Design)

During this course you will study the following modules:

  • Advanced colour techniques 
  • Advanced Mood boards techniques for different living spaces and corporate environments
  • Advanced Lighting design and solutions
  • Current trends in flooring and wall covering
  • Alternative Window treatments and furniture/accessories

By studying this course you will:

  • Learn about the advanced theories in psychology, symbolism and use of colour in interiors
  • Examine the form and function of advanced lighting designs and application
  • Extend skills in contemporary and traditional materials used in flooring
  • Continue to explore the diverse possibilities of wall coverings
  • Investigating a variety of ideas for window treatments
  • Research and apply current products and their applications

This is an assignment based course so there are no exams. You will be continually assessed throughout the programme.

The skills you will learn from this course will enable you to:

  • Pursue further study in the Art & Design subject area.
  • Self-employment in Interior Design

 

You'll train in our dedicated facilities which include dedicated interior design room and equipment. Also available on campus are graphics studios, fashion and print making studios together with a range of classrooms and facilities as part of the Creative Arts department including digital recording studios, TV studios and editing suites. All tutors are active within the art and design industry and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to call upon enabling you the best opportunity to progress in your chosen career.
