Introduction to Construction CAD Level 3

This course will give a good overview of the industry-standard 2D AutoCAD for Construction.

After this short course you will have the basics of 2D CAD and the confidence to try new elements and advance further in AutoCAD.

The course runs for four days over two weeks.

Please note: This course is focussed on construction, not engineering as there are distinct differences in the requirements of each sector.

To access this course you are required to have a good level of English, maths and IT skills such as using Excel spreadsheets.

During this course you will learn about 2D setting to produce 2D plans of foundations and finally extrude 2D projects into 3D information.

By studying this course you will:

  • Develop your understanding of AutoCAD and the basics of drawing
  • Draw using:
    • Lines and polylines and splines
    • Shapes such as rectangles and circles
    • Introduce Hatch elements into your drawing
  • Edit functions:
    • Trim
    • Extend
    • Mirror image
    • Offset
    • UCS Icon
    • OSNAP settings
    • Move and copy
    • Fillet
  • Understand Zoom, Pan functions and match properties
  • Use Dimension and annotate functions
  • Finally draw 2d objects and extrude into 3D objects ready for CADCAM

You will be continually assessed throughout the programme by work completed as part of the course.

The skills you will learn from this course will enable you to build your skills and develop a future in Construction AutoCAD and potentially train as an Architectural technician.

You will be taught by tutors with specialist skills who will be available to support you in gaining new skills and understanding of this short course topic.
