This 10-hour Level 2 Award in Managing Challenging Behaviour in Children and Young People qualification has been designed to enable the learner to understand the reasons for and effects of challenging behaviour in children and young people, how challenging behaviour may be managed and what support is available.

The qualification is targeted at learners/practitioners who wish to or currently work with children and/or young people who exhibit challenging behaviour. It is also suitable for parents/carers who wish to support a child or young person.

  • Learners must be 16 or over to enter for this qualification.
  • Learners do not need any specific qualifications or prior levels of attainment to be eligible to take the qualification (apart from level 1 or equivalent in English and the ability to use ICT).

  • Understand the effects of challenging behaviour in children and young people and how it may be managed.
  • Know how to seek support to deal with challenging behaviour in children and young people.
  • Be able to plan an activity that may minimise challenging behaviour.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to plan an activity that may minimise the possibility of children and young people exhibiting  challengingbehaviour.

Through a portfolio of evidence created by you. Grading is pass/fail.

Learners may extend their knowledge of other learning difficulties or disabilities through further offers available throughout the academic year, or progress onto higher level qualifications to support a route into employment (such as the level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning certificate).

The college offers a range of short courses around S.E.N and supporting learning with delivery from experienced and dedicated staff working in the sector.
