Part L (Energy Efficiency)

To access this course, you will need to be experienced installers of gas, oil, or solid fuel domestic central heating systems.

During this course you will study:

• Why energy consumption affects the environment.
• How energy efficiency affects the role of the heating installer.
• Legislation that will force changes and to prepare for assessment.

By studying this course you will:

• Understand the requirements of Document L of the Building Regulations relating to the design, installation of central heating systems and how to comply with the regulations.
• Understand the importance of conservation of fuel and power and how the use of fossil fuels leads to co2 emissions and climate change.
• Be able to correctly size heating systems and use correct components to make them more efficient and save the customer money.
• Be able to self-certify work in a competent person's scheme.

The assessment will consist of a short theory multiple choice examination. This very comprehensive course starts with intensive training, followed by the completion of the assessment. Candidates must successfully pass the assessment to gain the BPEC Part L energy efficiency certificate.
