More and more construction employers are looking for staff with have higher level qualifications, so this higher technical qualification in could help you land the job or the promotion you want!

HTQs were introduced in 2023 and are a great option if you’re looking to gain more technical knowledge in your chosen field and are developed by employers to be career-focussed, focus on practical and technical skills, and are flexible and adaptable so that you can fit studying around other commitments.

If you are looking for a professional career in construction – such as management, architecture, design, quantity surveying, building surveying and land surveying – then this is the course for you.

Entry Requirements:

To access this course you are required to be aged over 18 and have:

  • English and maths GCSE at grade 4 or above
  • At least one A Level OR
  • Level 3 BTEC National Certificate / BTEC National Diploma in construction or related discipline

Please note:

  • Mature students with out the necessary qualifications will be considered in light of relevant work and life experience
  • Non-EU students will require an IELTS 6 or equivalent University of Wolverhampton qualification

  • Construction practice and management
  • Legal and statutory responsibilities in construction
  • Construction information (drawing, detailing, specification)
  • Tender and procurement
  • Civil engineering technology

  • Management principles
  • Management of construction organisations and human resources
  • Basic construction planning
  • Elements of site administration

How will I be assessed?

This is an assessment-based course are there no exams.

You will be continually assessed throughout the programme on both theoretical and practical aspects.

This course provides a solid grounding in construction and the built environment on which you can build by: Pursuing a career in the construction management industry Progressing on to a HTQ Level 5 / HND / Degree
