Are you keen to learn more about allergy awareness?

This course will introduce those working with children, in adult health and social care, or in the service sector, to allergens, allergies, food labelling, and allergy awareness.

The course includes information on the symptoms of allergic reactions, the treatments available for allergic reactions, and first aid for those experiencing a severe allergic reaction.

The course is suitable for anyone wish to develop knowledge and understanding of allergies and those preparing for a wide range of job roles in diverse sectors which require them to have an awareness of allergies as part of their responsibilities.

The course will take, on average, just 8-16 weeks to complete.

Please note:

  • The course is funded so there is no cost to you as long as you complete the course
  • You must achieve the set targets and complete the course by the date given on our e-learning platform
  • If you fail to complete the course you will be required to pay £120* and will be required to sign an agreement to this before the start of the course.

*This is not the full cost of the course, but covers administrative costs.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however you must be aged 19 or over to enrol.

During this course you will study two mandatory units and have the chance to study an additional three optional units: 

Mandatory units:

  • Allergens, allergies and intolerances
  • Food labelling and packaging 

Optional units:

  • Allergy awareness for those working with children 
  • Allergy awareness for those working in adult health and social care 
  • Allergy awareness for those working in the service sector 

By studying this course you will:

  • Develop your understanding of allergy awareness
  • Learn how food labelling and packaging works and why it is important
  • Develop your confidence in dealing with service users with allergies
  • Understand how allergy awareness is applied in the health and social care industry

This is an online assessment-based course and there are no exams. You will be required to complete assessments via an online platform.  Your work will be assessed, and developmental feedback will be given by a tutor with relevant subject area experience.
