Are you keen to learn more about the principles of end of life care

This qualification aims to develop your knowledge and skills of the care of patients approaching theend of life, as well as how to support friends and families at this sensitive time.

This course contains six units and is ideal if you are already working in health or social care or or intending to work in the sector in the future. 

The course may also be suitable for anyone who is caring for a loved one or family member during their final stages of life.

On average, the course should only take 16 - 21 weeks to complete

Please note:

  • The course is funded so there is no cost to you as long as you complete the course
  • You must achieve the set targets and complete the course by the date given on our e-learning platform
  • If you fail to complete the course you will be required to pay £120* and will be required to sign an agreement to this before the start of the course.

During this course you will study the following units:

  • Understand how to work in end of life care
  • Care planning in end of life care
  • Understand how to provide support to manage pain and discomfort
  • End of life care and dementia
  • Understand the role of the care worker in time of death
  • Understand loss and grief in end of life care

By studying this course you will:

  • Develop your understanding of the principles of end of life care
  • Learn how care planning in end of life care works and why it is important
  • Develop your confidence in dealing with service users at this stage
  • Understand how care planning is applied in the health and social care industry
  • Improve your healthcare skills to help you create a long-standing career pathway in your chosen industry.

This is an online assessment-based course and there are no exams. You will be required to complete assessments via an online platform.  Your work will be assessed, and developmental feedback will be given by a tutor with relevant subject area experience.

  • Progress to other onlione distance learning courses offered by the college
  • Progress to study our Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care.
