Understanding Autism TQUK Level 2 Certificate Study Mode: Part-time   |    Course Level:

Are you keen to learn more about understanding autism

By studying this qualification you will gain an understanding of the spectrum of autistic disorders and how they can affect people in a variety of ways, as well as exploring the importance of using a person-centred approach to provide support.

You will also learn how to use appropriate communication skills and positive behaviour to encourage individuals with autistic spectrum conditions to live fulfilling and independent lives.

This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to develop their understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals to live healthy and fulfilled lives and will benefit anyone working, or looking to work, with individuals who have an autistic spectrum condition.

On average, the course should only take 16 - 21 weeks to complete

  • The course is funded so there is no cost to you as long as you complete the course
  • You must achieve the set targets and complete the course by the date given on our e-learning platform
  • If you fail to complete the course you will be required to pay £120* and will be required to sign an agreement to this before the start of the course.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

  • Communication and social interaction in individuals with autism
  • Sensory processing, perception and cognition in individuals with autism
  • Supporting positive behaviour in individuals with autism
  • Supporting people with autism to live healthy and fulfilled lives

By studying this course you will:

  • Develop your understanding of autism
  • Develop your confidence in dealing with service users with autism
  • Understand how person-centred approach is applied in the health and social care industry
  • Improve your skills to help create a long-standing career pathway in your chosen industry

This is an online assessment-based course and there are no exams. You will be required to complete assessments via an online platform.  Your work will be assessed, and developmental feedback will be given by a tutor with relevant subject area experience. 

The skills you will learn from this course will enable you to:

  • Pursue a career in health and social care.
  • Progress to another online distance learning course offered by the college
  • Progress to study for the Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health
