Cycle Mechanics Entry Level 3 Award Study Mode: Part-time | Course Level: Entry level 3
This course is for those who want to develop some of the key skills and understanding in building, servicing, repair and maintenance of all types of cycles. You will learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the cycle maintenance and building sector.
There are no entry requirements.
During this course you will study:
Remove and replace cycle wheels, tyres and inner tubes
Remove and replace cycle brake blocks
Lubricate and tension a single speed cycle chain
Remove and replace cycle saddles, seat posts and adjust handlebars
Clean and prepare a cycle for use
By studying this course you will:
Safely handle and dispose of used wheels, tyres and inner tubes
Safely handle and support cycle and wheels when removing and replacing wheels, tyres and inner tubes
Safely handle and dispose of used brake blocks
Safely handle and support a cycle when removing and replacing brake blocks
Safely handle and dispose of used chains
Safely handle and support a cycle when lubricating and tensioning the chain of a single speed cycle
Safely handle and dispose of used saddles and seat posts of a cycle
Safely handle and support a cycle when working on saddles, seat posts and adjusting handlebars of cycles
This is a practical course with some classroom theory. The assessment will be completing tasks safely and to the desired standards via observations, job cards and witness testimonies.
After successfully completing the course you can progress onto light vehicle maintenance and repair entry 3 or a level 1 course.
