If yes, then this course is right for you! The Level 3 provides a pathway to understand assessment and if required, qualify as an assessor. Learners who wish to achieve these units could be assessing competence or non-competence based learning, knowledge or skills.

  • The minimum age for learners is 18 years old
  • Have a C in GCSE or level 4 or equivalent 
  • Have agreed to two learners/ trainees that you would be assessing during the practical assessment
  • Hold a qualification above the level you will be assessing. e.g. level 2 if you will be assessing level 1 trainees/learners /qualification

During this course you will study:

  • The principles and practices of assessment
  • How to assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

This is an assignment based course so there are no exams. You will be continually assessed throughout the programme. There are several components to the assessment:

  • Written assignment or professional discussion
  • Observation of performance in the work environment
  • Examining products of work
  • Questioning the learner

The skills you will learn from this course will enable you to:

  • Pursue a career as a qualified assessor in further education or training provision
  • Trainer and assessor in work based learning
  • Complete further qualifications in this field
