The Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Award in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Awareness is suitable for those who want to improve their understanding of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), whether for professional or personal reasons. It will be particularly relevant for teaching assistants and learning support staff with little or no prior knowledge of ADHD.

There are no formal entry requirements, however to access this course you are required to:

  • Be 16 years old or above
  • Have Level 1 English
  • Commit to attend for the duration of the course

The qualification contains one mandatory unit which covers characteristics, causes, treatments and assessment methods as well as ways to support individuals with ADHD and sources of further relevant information.

Knowledge of ADHD and some basic strategies to support a learner with ADHD.

This is an assignment based course so there are no exams. You will be continually assessed throughout the programme and will create a portfolio of evidence.

The skills you will learn from this course will help you develop in an existing role such as a teaching assistant or learning support practitioner, or help learners prepare to take on such a role. After you have successfully completed this course you can progress on to another one of our special needs short courses or Level 2 Award in Teaching Assistants or use this as a CPD opportunity.
