If you are keen to improve your knowledge and understanding of dyslexia so that you can support learners who require additional support in school, this is the course for you!

The course will cover what dyslexia is, how it is diagnosed, the effects it can have on those diagnosed with the condition, methods of supporting them, sources of information, and how strategies are applied in the educational sector.

To access this course you are required to have:

  • Level 2 English functional skills OR
  • English at GCSE grade C or above

During this course you will learn:

  • What dyslexia is
  • How dyslexia is diagnosed
  • How dyslexia affect individuals
  • Ways to support the learning of individuals with dyslexia
  • Where to find sources of information for individuals with dyslexia and those supporting them

By studying this course you will:

  • Develop your understanding of dyslexia.
  • Gain an appreciation of the impact of dyslexia.
  • Develop your confidence in dealing with dyslexic learners.
  • Understand how strategies for supporting dyslexia are applied in the educational sector.
  • Gain valuable team working and communication skills by taking part in class activities, discussions and presentations

This is an assignment based course so there are no exams. You will be continually assessed by your tutor throughout the course and will be required to create a portfolio of evidence.

The skills you will learn from this course will enable you to progress to:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Level 3 award in Dyslexia Awareness
  • Level 1 or Level 3 award in Dyspraxia Awareness
