Construction Apprenticeships - City of Wolverhampton College

Construction Apprenticeships

As an employer in the construction industry, offering apprenticeships is a great way to train new staff and for your business to benefit from an employee with the latest sector skills and knowledge.

Whether you’re a small business specialising in one tradeor a large organisation employing multiple trades, apprenticeship training will enable your employees to develop the skills and knowledge needed to meet the demands of the business.

We offer apprenticeships in the traditional construction trades of brickwork, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting and decorating, as well as a range of new programmes including construction plant operative, property maintenance operative, surveying technician and quantity surveying technician.

Apprentices will combine working for the company with studying at college  – usually one day per week – and work towards achieving a set of occupational standards set by employers.

They  will train in our purpose-built construction centre, on the Wellington Road campus in Bilston, which has dedicated workshops and classrooms for brickwork, carpentry and joinery, electrical and electronics, gas centre, groundworks, painting and decorating, plant, plastering, plumbing and rail and is equipped with a range of industry-standard kit and equipment.

What’s more, throughout their training, the apprentice will be supported by college staff who will work closely with you to ensure that the skills they are learning are what is required by your business and that they will achieve their full potential and career aspirations, as well as meet your business needs.

The college has a dedicated recruitment team to support employers in appointing an apprentice – including advertising vacancies, screening applicants and shortlisting candidates for interview; and with a talent pool of enthusiastic young people waiting for a business apprenticeship you can be sure you’ll be employing the right person for the job!

And apprenticeships aren’t just for new staff! If you want to upskill and develop existing members of your team they can benefit from apprenticeship training too – email employerenquiries@wolvcoll.ac.uk and a member of the team will contact you to discuss your requirements further.
