“The whole college experience has been good and I’ve had a really good two months so far, said 17-year-old Lewis Smith who joined the college in September to study for the Level 3 diploma in sport.

Lewis added: “In the future I want to be either a PE teacher or go into sports psychology and I chose this course to further my knowledge of sport and how the body works.

“I’m currently learning about anatomy and physiology, the rules and regulations of sport, and the different lifestyle choices that people make.

“The course is widening my knowledge and giving me the skills I’m going to need to go into teaching and teach others what I learnt in high school.

“The support from tutors is really good – they’re always there to talk to and will help with anything you need.

“I chose to come to college as I wanted a new start, meet new people and make fresh new friendships and I’m glad I made a change from the school environment as there’s more freedom and it’s much better for me.”
