Talented students from City of Wolverhampton College showed off their creative skills in a painting and decorating competition.

A total of 15 students, who are all studying for Level 1 and Level 2 diplomas in painting and decorating, had three hours to produce a decorative panel using gold leaf or wood graining, rag rolling and sponging techniques.

The competition – sponsored by adhesive tape manufacturer TESA – was organised to give students the chance to use the company’s products to create their design and produce a professional finish.

Winners Kaiya Males, aged 17, who is studying for the Level 1 qualification, and Level 2 student Casey Cooper, 19, both received a TESA tshirt and jacket and a range of adhesive tapes to use on future projects.

Casey said: “I really enjoyed taking part in the competition – it was interesting and challenging but I learnt a lot about how to use the right masking tape for the right job and I was very happy to come first.
