In just three years, Claire Caldwell has gone from being an apprentice herself to becoming an office administrator and managing two business apprentices in her department!

Claire, aged 20, who works for steel stockholders Hall and Pickles in Wombourne, was the first apprentice the company had ever had and she combined working there with studying for a Level 2 diploma in business at the college’s Paget Road campus.

After completing her apprenticeship she was offered a full-time paid role with the company and has since gone on to do more training as well as being given more and more responsibility by her employers.

Claire said:”My apprenticeship training really helped me as I was able to use what I learnt at college when I was in the office, and when situations arose I could use the knowledge and skills I gained on the course to help resolve them.”

After Claire completed her apprenticeship, the company took on another apprentice who moved into a sales role after completing his training, and currently employs two more business apprentices.
