Bands from across the Midlands will be taking to the stage at a major music event organised by students at City of Wolverhampton College.

Wolverhampton-based cover band Carbon Copy will be headlining at the Live, Loud and Local gig at the Slade Rooms, in the city centre, on Friday 7 June.

They will be joined by rock group Glory Fades and acoustic singer Joe Thomas – both from the city – as well as Birmingham band The Borgias

The event has been put together by students studying for the two-year University of the Arts London Level 3 extended diploma in music performance and production, as part of their final assessment, and aims to test their skills in live sound and lighting engineering, artist liaison, venue logistics, and concert production.

Jo Slater, curriculum manager for music technology at the college, said: “The event is a culmination of two years of hard work, commitment and dedication from our students and is a chance for them to put everything they have learnt into practice to create a fantastic event, as well as celebrate the end of their course and all that they have achieved.”

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets costing £6, or £5 for students, are available in advance from Midlands Box Office or the college’s music department at the Paget Road campus, or on the door.
