“I wanted a change from school, to meet new people and have a new environment to learn in,” said 16-year-old Megan Oakley who started studying for the Level 2 extended certificate in business in September after finishing school last summer.
Megan, who is hoping to progress to the two-year extended diploma next year and then go to university to study event management added: “There’s more freedom at college than school and it’s up to you how much work you do, so you are actually responsible for your own learning.
“The course covers business and personal finance, marketing and marketing structures within organisations, and event management. And we also look at market share and business news from across the world and how this affects different organisations.
“The last six months since I started college have been fun, collaborative and challenging, and I’ve become more confident and happier to talk to people – it was definitely the right decision to come here!”
