When Business Resilience Manager Steve Parton enrolled on the NEBOSH General Certificate qualification at City of Wolverhampton City College he never envisaged how far it would take him.

After completing the course 14 years ago, Steve went on to study for his NVQ Level 6 NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety prior to eventually gaining Chartered membership of The Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) & also Fellowship of The Chartered Insurance Institute. Steve now becomes one of only 500 people across the world to achieve Fellowship success from a membership of 46,000.

Steve, who specialises in liability and health and safety for AXA Insurance, said: “When I enrolled for my NEBOSH General Certificate course back in 2004 never did I think I would achieve the heady heights of Fellowship of both IOSH & the Chartered Insurance Institute.

“The information and knowledge within the NEBOSH Certificate course was crucial with regards my personal development. My college tutor was very knowledgeable and was able to explain specific topics in a style and simplicity in order that all students could understand the topic or issue in question.

“If you are considering studying for a course at Wolverhampton City College my advice is go for it and give it your all, you never know where study may take you.”
