After gaining Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in professional bakery, 18-year-old Mitchell Thomas is expanding his skills by studying for the Level 2 diploma in professional cookery.

Mitchell said: “Doing the bakery qualifications enabled me to become more confident and I now feel comfortable working in the fast-paced environment of the college’s Academy restaurant.

“Before I came here I couldn’t cook a thing but now I’m preparing meals for real customers which makes me feel great!

“All of the tutors I’ve had have been really supportive and helped me to develop  and become more confident – I’m really pleased I took the route that I did as it’s preparing me for my future career in the catering industry.”
