City of Wolverhampton College’s specialist polymer training entre has taken delivery of a new injection moulding machine.
The KraussMaffei UK state-of-the-art 81-250 PX all-electric machine has been installed at the college’s Polymer Training and Innovation Centre (PTIC) in Telford and is a continuation of the longstanding relationship between the two organisations, reflecting their shared mission to address the industry-wide skills shortage by equipping the next generation of engineers and technicians with the expertise they need to succeed.
Trainees and apprentices at PTIC will benefit from hands-on experience with cutting-edge machinery technology, ensuring they gain practical skills relevant to today’s manufacturing environment. With the associated ancillaries, integrations and digital tools, this is a fantastic opportunity for learners to work directly with industry-leading injection moulding technology to further their studies.
Andy Baker, centre manager at PTIC, said: “The PTIC fully appreciates the support of KraussMaffei UK and other industry-leading suppliers, helping us to give back to the next generation of engineers and technicians. The generosity and support of suppliers like KraussMaffei UK allow us to deliver high-quality training and education, using modern and high-specification machinery to provide hands-on learning opportunities.
“The future of the UK manufacturing industry depends on the development of skilled professionals, and this kind of support is invaluable.”
Richard Mumford, sales director at KraussMaffei UK also highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “We are delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with the PTIC by delivering this latest KraussMaffei PX moulding machine. Supporting training initiatives like PTIC is crucial for the future of our industry, ensuring that engineers and technicians receive practical, high-quality education on the latest technology. By investing in skills development, we are not only supporting the PTIC but also strengthening the UK manufacturing sector as a whole.”
The KraussMaffei PX machine will also be available for viewing at PTIC, providing prospective KraussMaffei customers with the opportunity to see live demonstrations of its capabilities and integrated digital solutions in action, directly from the centrally located PTIC facility in Telford.
The PX series of machines from KraussMaffei is renowned for its flexibility, productivity, and energy efficiency. The newly delivered machine is also equipped with the increasingly popular APCplus (Adaptive Process Control), which ensures zero-defect production by automatically compensating for fluctuations in the injection moulding process with enhanced precision. Known as “cruise control for the injection moulding process”, APCplus automatically adjusts key parameters in real-time to compensate for changes in temperature, material consistency, or humidity, enabling an incredibly consistent moulding process.
