Rohit Sharma enrolled in the Level 1 and 2 Electric Motor Vehicle (EMV) courses at City of Wolverhampton College after facing challenges in finding a job in the automotive industry. The opportunity to take the IMI EMV course served as a lifeline for Rohit, allowing him to develop the skills needed to pursue his passion.
Initially nervous about starting the course, Rohit committed to completing it and enjoyed the supportive environment fostered by his tutors. He expressed gratitude to his instructors, particularly Paul, Stuart, Adrian, and another tutor, who believed in him and tailored their teaching to accommodate different learning styles.
Rohit said: “I was struggling for quite a while, especially with looking for a role. Then a lifeline of opportunity presented itself with the offer to do an IMI EMV course. I had a great time studying with great tutors who never gave up on us!
“Although I didn’t get the job I was looking for, I received a blessing in disguise when a recruiter at G&P saw something in me and offered me the chance to work for such a high-profile company. If it wasn’t for the team at the college, who knows where I would be.
“I highly recommend this course to anyone. My advice is to stay positive, work through the obstacles, and keep smiling—you never know which doors will open to your future. As cheesy as it sounds, your destiny is within your grasp! Take that chance because you can show the world that you are worth more than any amount of money or worldly things!”
Following Rohit’s successful performance in the SWAP Level 1 and 2 course and a job interview arranged by the college with G&P QM Automotive Recruitment Consultants, he was successfully employed in a full-time position. Rohit is now stationed at their HQ office at Fort Dunlop, Birmingham, within the BMW team department.
