Annie Pendrey
Annie embarked on her professional journey as an NNEB, working in both early years and the primary sector. At the age of 15, she was told in a careers interview that she would ‘never be able to go to university’. She later transitioned into roles as an FE and HE lecturer and a professional development manager, and also served as an external examiner for the Open University and Oxford Brookes.
Currently, Annie is a freelance educational consultant specialising in curriculum development, as well as offering a wide range of professional development opportunities for the FE sector. She is in the final year of her PhD and will soon be known as Doctor Pendrey. Annie shares her passion for research as a co-convenor of the Learning Skills Research Network, supporting FE professionals across the Black Country to share and publish their work.
Annie’s contributions to academia span various media, including academic journals, chapters in books and regular educational columns. She has authored several books, including ‘The Little Book of Reflection’, ‘Reflection and Reflective Spaces in the Early Years’ and ‘Being, Belonging and Thriving as an Early Years Practitioner’. Having developed a curriculum for healthcare professionals in the NHS, she is also set to release a fourth book for the healthcare sector in 2025.
