After working in engineering education for around 11 years, I have been able to inspire and challenge thousands of young people to strive and then achieve their goals. After working in engineering education for around 11 years, I have been able to inspire and challenge thousands of young people to strive and then achieve their goals. I have been an engineering tutor at the college for over 30 years. Prior to coming to the college I worked in the industry as a toolmaker and designer, working with multi-stage press tools and injection moulding tooling. Away from work, I enjoy following football and warm water snorkelling.
I have been a tutor in the engineering department for 14 years. I like helping students learn across a range of engineering topics and to catch up with former students to see how they have developed their skills and progressed in their career.
I have worked as an engineer for 30 years and felt like I would like to pass on my knowledge and skills on to the next generation. I am enjoying working as a tutor in the Engineering department, helping students learn and succeed in their studies.
I have worked in the higher education sector for most of my academic career and have a keen interest in advanced manufacturing technology and the role it plays in solving engineering problems. I enjoy teaching students from various social and cultural backgrounds and developing effective teaching methods that promote a stimulating learning environment.
Prior to joining the college, I worked in the Engineering industry for over 20 years. Engineering is not just a job, it’s also a life skill that can be transferred to all aspects of life. As a former apprentice I can see the value of on-the-job training mixed with knowledge gained in a college environment and, with my experience, am well-equipped to support students through their engineering qualifications and gain the skills they need for their future career.
I have over 30 years’ teaching experience and have worked at the college since 2018, teaching mechanical engineering units. Over my career I have been involved in setting up a range of courses, as well as delivering bespoke training to a range of organisations including Parcelforce, West Midlands Travel, Jaguar Land Rover and West Midlands Police.
Prior to working at the college, I was a technician for 28 years; firstly, in audio/visual and then in engineering. I have created and developed a lot of the workshop safety systems. Away from work, I enjoy watching live sport and music and spending time with my grandson and attempting to master building Lego sets!
I work as an Engineering Tutor and take great pride in helping learners succeed in their courses. By providing guidance and support, I aim to inspire students to reach their full potential and develop the skills they need for a successful career in engineering.

Our engineering facilities feature the latest industry-standard equipment including lathes, CNCs and milling machines and a welding workshop, as well as a specialist computer aided design suite with the latest CAD drafting facilities and dedicated CAD/CAM PCs in the workshops.
