Joshua Mills is celebrating after getting a Saturday job at Go Outdoors after impressing managers there on a work placement as part of the Futures Internship programme.
Joshua, aged 22, who spent two days a week on his placement and attended college one day a week, said: “I help customers on the shop floor and also work in the warehouse labelling and hanging clothes ready for them to go on the rails.
“I can work independently but know how to ask for help from other people in the team if I’m struggling with anything.
“I felt really happy when I was offered the job and it’s nice to earn money so that I can be more independent. I am more confident and happy now and feel very proud when I put on my uniform.”
John Mycock, duty manager at the store, said: “Joshua’s approach to work has been brilliant and the hard work and commitment he showed during his placement led to us offering him the job – he has done really well and it is very well deserved.”
