After doing a Level 3 health and safety course at the college in 2008, Emma Woodhouse has gone on to do Level 4, 5 and 6 qualifications here over the last 14 years.
And Emma’s hard work and commitment to learning and continued professional development culminated in her having a peer review with the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) and gaining Chartered membership in February 2022.
Emma said: “I was discussing health and safety training at a networking event and was advised to contact staff at the college’s Telford campus to discuss my requirements.
“I’ve worked hard on the courses and learnt a lot from the tutors over the years and have gained the ability, confidence and knowledge to become competent in my field and to run my own business.
“I am currently working as a health and safety consultant assisting companies to become compliant with health and safety law and, in the future, I want to carry out audits for companies wanting to gain ISO 45001 health and safety management accreditation.
“For anyone who needs health and safety training I’d say that any courses completed with the support of the college team are a must and I’d highly recommend them.”
To continue her learning further, Emma has signed up for an Approved Coaching for Safety course with IOSH, as well as the ISO 45001: 2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) Lead Auditor Course in July 2022.
