“Going to university wasn’t something I planned to do, said 25-year-old Jordan Dearnbut the qualification I gained at college was a great pathway into the IT industry and allowed me entry to the University of Wolverhampton.

Jordan, who studied for the Level 2 Certificate in Public Services and then progressed to a Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT, gained an MSc in Information Technology Management at the university and is now studying for an MSc in Robotics.

He added: At college I was treated like an adult and the content of the course helped me understand the modules that I would study at university. In my second year the assignments, presentations and reports I had to produce prepared me for academic study and what would be expected of me in my degree.

It was exciting going to university as it meant I was able to study IT in greater depth and I’ve shown that A Levels aren’t the only route to getting there.

Jordan currently works as a PVT tester for digital technology company Capgemini and plans to pursue a career in business analysis.
