Success story: Futures student Maya-Ray Cranston

Futures Student Maya-Ray Cranston

Painting nails is one of the many activities that 16-year-old Maya-Ray Cranston has taken part in on a Futures programme at the Wellington Road campus.

Maya has learnt how to decorate nails with glittery designs and was part of a group of students who spent a morning at Bilston People’s Centre, painting the nails of the senior citizens who attend then centre.

She is also developing her cookery skills and getting better at telling the time, and was recently involved in a charity project collecting old glasses to raise money for eye care services in Africa.

Maya said: “I like college, it’s nicer than school and I’ve made friends in my class.

“I enjoy cooking and liked doing nails at the People’s Centre and I want to do a hair and beauty course next.”
