Level 2 Preparing and using manual TIG or arc welding equipment

If you already have welding experience but would like to achieve a City & Guilds level 2 qualification in TIG welding, or have just completed the Level 1 TIG short course and want to continue developing your practical skills, this short course will give you a greater understanding of TIG or arc

welding processes and techniques used in the industry.

The course covers TIG Level 2 welding or arc welding - you will be required to choose one process to study and if you wish to learn about additional processes you will need to enrol on a further course.

You will train at the new £8.1 million purpose-built Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre at the Wellington Road campus, in Bilston, which boasts dedicated engineering workshops kitted out with industry-standard equipment including fabrication and welding suites, a specialist CAD room

featuring AutoCAD and SolidWorks software, CNC milling machines, lathes, 3D printers, mechatronic t-rigs and a laser cutter.


What are the entry requirements?

You must have completed a Level 1 TIG course or have the appropriate experience.

What will I learn?

During the course you will study the following modules:


  • Setting up and closing down procedures of welding equipment
  • Basic welding techniques and joints in your one chosen field
  • Health and safety in a welding workshop
