Abdul Hameed Raza joined the West Midlands Metro Into Employment course after looking to expand his career options following changes to the taxi industry. With 20 years’ experience as a taxi driver and a Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Motor Vehicle qualification, he was keen to explore new opportunities and build on his existing skills. Abdul said:
“After working as a taxi driver for many years, I wanted to increase my opportunities and explore a new sector. Becoming a tram driver is particularly interesting to me because driving and meeting new people is my speciality.
“I really enjoyed the course. It was professional, interesting and I learned a lot about the industry and the opportunities available.
“One of the most valuable parts of the course was the interview preparation. We practised a lot, especially using the AI body swap simulation, which helped build my confidence.
“My goal is to secure a role within the tram industry and continue developing my skills in a growing sector.
“I would encourage others to take part in this course. Even if you don’t secure a job straight away, you gain valuable knowledge and experience that can help you in everyday life and future careers.”
