After struggling to find work and wanting to boost her confidence, 20-year-old Brooke Cashmore joined the Preparation for Work course at City of Wolverhampton College. The course helped her develop essential employability skills, build her confidence, and successfully secure a full-time job.
“I chose this course to help with my confidence and to meet new people. I hadn’t worked prior to this course but had applied for several jobs. During the course, I learnt how to adapt my CV to suit employers’ needs, how to act in different situations, and what questions to ask in interviews. I also learnt how to present myself professionally.
“I’ve benefited massively from the course as my confidence has improved and I now feel comfortable meeting new people. The tutors gave me lots of support — they never forced me to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with but encouraged me in a positive way. The course has prepared me in so many ways, especially for interviews and professional environments.
“I now have a full-time job, have already started work, and I’m really enjoying it! I’m learning new things every day. You only have one shot in life, so do what you want and chase your dreams!”
