Callum Wilkinson, 19, is studying the UAL Level 3 Creative Practice in Art and Design course at City of Wolverhampton College. He chose the course as an opportunity to develop his creativity while working towards his long-term goal of progressing to university to study Zoo Animal Management and Conservation. Callum said:

“I chose this course because it allowed me to resit my GCSE English sooner and continue working towards my goal of applying to university. At the same time, it gave me the opportunity to study something I enjoy and develop my creative skills. 

“The course has allowed me to express my passion for animals, zoology and conservation through art and design. I’ve learned how creativity can be applied in different ways and gained experience in areas such as digital art, 3D design and printmaking, which were very different from the pencil sketching I was used to. 

“One of the best parts of the course has been building on an area I already enjoyed while also challenging myself to try new things. I’ve loved being able to combine my interest in conservation with creative projects, as well as meeting lots of interesting and inspiring people along the way. 

“My ambition is to use creativity to help raise awareness of the importance of protecting the natural world and inspire both children and adults to appreciate the environment around them. 

“I would recommend City of Wolverhampton College to anyone looking to develop their interests and turn a hobby into a potential career. The college offers a wide range of opportunities and can help people discover their direction, whether they are just starting out or looking for a new path.”
