Christopher Andrews joined the West Midlands Metro Into Employment course after previously working in retail and completing a technical apprenticeship. With a long-standing interest in railways, trains and driving roles, he saw the course as the perfect opportunity to combine his interests and explore a new career path. Christopher said:
“I’ve always had an interest in railways, trains and driving jobs, so the Midland Metro course felt like a great opportunity to bring those interests together and try something new.
“I’ve enjoyed refreshing my Maths and English skills alongside learning about customer service, particularly more effective communication and how to handle customer enquiries professionally.
“One of the most useful parts of the course has been the body swap interview tool. It has helped me practise interview scenarios and build my confidence ahead of applying for jobs.
“The support on the course has been excellent. With help from my tutor, I was able to improve my CV, make it more concise and tailor it specifically for opportunities with Midland Metro.
“My goal is to become a tram driver, although I’m also interested in exploring other career opportunities within the industry, including compliance-related roles.
“I would highly recommend the Midland Metro course to anyone looking to develop their employability skills in a supportive environment. The tutors have been fantastic, the group has been great to learn alongside, and having the opportunity to progress into a growing industry makes the course a brilliant choice.”
