Lily Knott is studying Level 3 Professional Bakery at City of Wolverhampton College. With a lifelong passion for baking, she has continued to build her skills and confidence throughout her time at the college.
“I chose this course because I’ve always loved baking ever since I was little. I enjoy making different products and learning new skills, and after completing Level 2, progressing to Level 3 was the natural next step.
“I’ve learned how to make a wide range of products, including craft breads, croissants and cakes. I’ve also developed strong teamwork skills from baking alongside other students and working in a real kitchen environment.
“This is my fourth year at the college, and I’ve become a much more confident person. I communicate better, I’ve grown more independent, and I’ve gained so many practical skills that I can use both at college and at home. One of the best parts of the course has been learning recipes and techniques that I can try outside of college. I’ve also made lots of new friends over the years.
“In the future, I’d like to work in the hospitality and catering industry. Completing four courses has helped prepare me for that by teaching me practical baking skills, teamwork, and essential kitchen hygiene and safety.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the college, and if you’re thinking about studying here, I’d say give it a chance. The tutors and classroom assistants are really helpful and support you whenever you need extra help.”
