Husband and wife Mostafa Parsa and Yasamin Amir Pour joined the ESOL Digital Skills course at City of Wolverhampton College to develop their digital knowledge, improve their confidence with technology and support their future career goals. Through the course, they have both gained valuable skills while preparing for the next steps in their personal and professional journeys.
“I joined the course because technology and IT skills are important in today’s world and in almost every job,” said Mostafa. “I would like to continue my career as a barber, and improving my digital and language skills will help me achieve that. Everything is good about this college, and the support I received made it easy to join the right course. The staff have been very helpful throughout.”
“Before starting the course, I knew that digital skills would be important for my future,” added Yasamin. “I previously studied Biology and worked as a hairdresser, but I would now like to become a translator. The course has helped me develop my communication, teamwork and typing skills, which are useful in everyday life and any career.”
Both learners praised the supportive environment at the college and the flexibility of the course.
“The staff are friendly, supportive and always willing to help,” said Yasamin. “The course timings fit around our personal commitments, which has made studying much easier. I hope to continue onto more courses in the future because learning is important for life and for my children.”
Mostafa would encourage others not to let a lack of confidence hold them back.
“If you’re worried about whether you’re suitable for a course, don’t be afraid to ask for help. The support is there, and it can help you get onto the right pathway for your future.”
The couple have enjoyed their experience so much that they have already recommended the college to others.
“We’ve spoken positively about our experience, and we now have a friend who is interested in studying at the college too,” said Yasamin.
