Skye Bennett

Course: Early Years Level 2

Seventeen-year-old Skye Bennett is currently studying the Early Years Level 2 course at City of Wolverhampton College and is passionate about creating safe, supportive environments for children in education.

“I chose this course because it’s important to me that children are protected in the education system and can learn in a safe and secure environment. I want to be someone who can safeguard children, console them when needed, and help them have fun while learning in early education — all while caring for their individual needs.

“So far, I’ve learnt so much, including different activities that support learning and development, how transitions can affect a child, and how to stay professional as an early years practitioner. Overall, the course has taught me how to care for children’s needs and support them fully during their early education.

“Since starting college, I’ve developed a good routine, which has made me more productive — something that will really help me in the future. The best parts of the course have been making new friends, learning about a subject I enjoy, and being introduced to amazing tutors who support everyone and constantly push us to do our best.

“In the future, I plan to work with children who have special educational needs and physical disabilities. This is very personal to me because I grew up around people with special needs and disabilities, and I know what it looks like when children don’t get the additional support they need. I want to make sure they do.

“If you’re thinking about studying Early Years at City of Wolverhampton College, go for it! For me, it’s been a really positive experience. The teachers are so supportive and genuinely care about you and your education. Overall, it’s a great course and a great college that will help you achieve your future ambitions, whatever they may be.”
