You will learn in our dedicated Construction Innovation Centre at the Wellington Road campus and develop a range of practical skills focusing on bricklaying.

Entry Requirements:

Adults without the necessary qualifications but with relevant work/life experience.

A good command of the English Language.

You will be expected to maintain good attendance and punctuality, as well as show commitment, a positive attitude to learning, and determination to achieve the qualification.

What will I learn?

During this course you will learn a variety of hands-on skills by completing 2 units:

  • Construction Health and Safety
  • Skills for Bricklaying

What skills will I gain?

Throughout the course you will gain knowledge and understanding of:

  • Preparing to carry out bricklaying
  • Prepare materials to carry out bricklaying
  • Carry out brick and blocklaying.
  • Clear and clean the work area after tasks.

How will I be assessed?

Throughout the course you will be assessed in the following ways:

  • Completion of two NOCN devised practical tasks and associated knowledge questions (written or verbal). This unit is internally assessed and internally and externally quality assured using the NOCN assessment booklets to evidence all learning outcomes.
  • An online or paper based test for the Health and Safety unit.

Successful completion of the course will enable you to progress to:

  • Diploma in Bricklaying level 1
