This Level 2 Health Professions study programme is ideal if you are aged 19+, interested in a career in health or social care, but don’t yet have the qualifications you need to move forward.
Developed by our Access to Higher Education team, this GCSE‑equivalent course provides you with a Level 2 qualification accredited by AIM, an external awarding body.
This programme is perfect if you want to:
- Start a career in the health care sector and need the right entry-level qualification
- Progress to further study, such as our Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health Professions
- Ultimately move on to university-level study in areas like nursing, midwifery, radiography, paramedic science, and more
You’ll learn face to face at the City Learning Quarter with our highly experienced tutors—many of whom also teach on the Level 3 Access to HE Diploma—ensuring a smooth progression if you choose to continue your studies.

To access this course you are required to:
- Be able to provide evidence of being able to work at level 1 in English and Maths
and/or
- To have successfully completed a related level 1 qualification
What will I learn?
On this programme, you will study a range of units designed to prepare you for progressing onto the Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health Professions. Your learning will cover:
- Investigating a career
- Health care practice
- Health promotion in a care setting
- Understanding mental health
- Health psychology
These subjects will provide the foundational knowledge and study skills needed for further health‑related qualifications.

This programme provides you with a Level 2 qualification that can help you move directly into employment within the health and social care sector.
You can also choose to continue your studies with us by progressing onto the Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health Professions. This is the ideal next step if you want to advance into higher-level training.
