Entry Requirements:
To access this course you are required to have:
- A previous GCSE, preferably grade D for the resit course
- An assessment is given prior to starting the course to ensure that this is the right course for you
What will I learn?
By studying this course you will learn how to use:
- Effective speaking and listening skills suitable for a variety of situations; including presentations and discussions
- Reading techniques to comprehend, analyse, evaluate and compare texts
- Extended writing techniques to enable you to produce clear and informative copy for a range of purposes, audiences and genres

Studying GCSE English will enable you to:
- Improve your use of written English
- Develop effective listening and speaking skills
- Consider and analyse a wide range of texts and writing styles
