Entry Requirements:

There are no pre-requisites for this course but a reasonable command of the English language would be required. Prospective students will also be required to undertake a short telephone interview with the course tutor to check their current job role is suitable for the course and completion of the portfolio.

What will I learn?

· Ensure your own actions reduce risk to Health and Safety

· Develop procedures to control risks to Health & Safety

. Monitor procedures to control work operations

. Promote a Health and Safety Culture within the workplace

. Conduct an assessment of risk in the workplace

Develop your understanding of how your actions and responsibilities contribute to Health and Safety in the workplace
Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence
Learn how to identify and define hazards and risks, how to produce risk assessments and risk control
Learn how to develop and implement effective communication systems
Understand how to improve the safety performance in your workplace and how Health and Safety plays an active part in protecting the environment
Understand how to maintain knowledge and improvements of Health and Safety Practice

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is in the form of continual informal assessment throughout the two workshop days followed by a formal assessment in the workplace. Learners will be expected to build a portfolio of evidence throughout the duration of the course.

What can I do next?

After successful completion of this course, you could progress to complete the Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice
