If you left school with few or no qualifications but would still like to go on to Higher Education, our one-year Level 3 Access to Higher Education (HE) courses can get you there.
Access to HE is widely recognised by UK universities and bridges the gap between existing education and what is needed to study at degree level – helping you to develop the skills and confidence you need for university.
The course includes a range of units which, studied together, will prepare you for studying for a degree and we offer a number of different pathways – including business, computing, education, engineering, health, humanities, social sciences, and social sciences social work – which focus on the individual speciality, enabling you to develop specific knowledge in the area you wish to work in in the future.
If you apply for an Access to HE course and we think you’re not quite ready for this level of study, we offer a one-year part-time Level 2 Progression to Access programme which will improve your skills and enable you to move on to the Level 3 Access to HE course the following year.
Many people are nervous when they start an Access to HE course, particularly if they haven’t been in a classroom for some time, but our tutors are aware of this and take it into account in their teaching. What’s more, as a mature student your life experiences will be valuable on the course and you will find that others on the course are from a wide range or ages and backgrounds too.
