Work Experience for Students
Gain real-world experience to kickstart your career! Work placements are an essential part of your course, helping you build skills, industry knowledge, and confidence for the future.
Work experience placements are an integral part of your course
Whether you’re training to be a hairdresser, chef, sports professional, or pursuing a career in the motor vehicle industry. These placements offer you the chance to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, gain hands-on experience, and explore your chosen industry.
The length of your work experience will depend on the qualification you are doing – the majority of courses require you to do a short placement of around 30 hours however, for some qualifications, the placement will be longer – you will be advised of this as part of your admissions interview.

Some placements are arranged by your tutor, while for others you may need to find your own. These can be structured as block releases of one or two weeks, or as weekly commitments.
It’s important to consider how the placement will benefit your career and the practical aspects, such as transport options and travel time. Your tutor will also help you prepare by covering essential employability skills like timekeeping, communication, and professionalism.
Students have gained valuable insights through placements in a variety of organizations, from local businesses to large international companies. This experience enhances your skills, boosts your CV or personal statement, and could even lead to future job or apprenticeship opportunities.
