Essential Skills qualifications are designed to help you develop the skills you use in everyday life and work. They can help boost your CV, help you get on to other courses, or give you more confidence in you own abilities. They are available at range of levels and our expert staff will help you pick a qualification that’s right for you.

Free English

English courses are designed to help you improve the speaking, listening, reading and writing skills needed in everyday life and at work.

We offer a range of both daytime and evening courses to improve you English – you will have an individual learning plan created specifically for you and will gain a national qualification.

Free Maths

Maths courses are designed to develop the practical maths skills you will need in everyday life and to give you an opportunity to gain a national qualification at a level appropriate to you.

We offer a range of courses from basic understanding of numbers to more advanced qualifications which are of an equivalent level to GCSE maths.


ESOL courses are suitable for any learner who is not a native speaker of English and wants to improve their use of the language, and programmes cover all four skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Courses are offered from Entry 1 to Level 2. Course fees are payable, however learners in receipt of an eligible benefit may be entitle to free remission. Evidence must be submitted during enrolment.

Pre Access to Higher Education

This course will help you improve your Maths, English and independent study skills, which will enable you to progress to an Access to Higher Education course.
