If you want to work in one of the largest industries in the country, a hospitality and catering apprenticeship will teach you the skills you need to work in the sector.
Whether you want to be front of house or behind the scenes, work in a small café or a large venue with hundreds of diners, an apprenticeship will give you the foundation for a great future career.
For budding chefs, we offer a commis chef apprenticeship where you will learn how to carry out basic functions in every area of the kitchen which will give you a good grounding in the role and enable you to decide which area you want to specialise in and undertake further training in in the future.
And, for those wanting a more public-facing role, the hospitality team member apprenticeship covers a range of roles including food and beverage service, reception, reservations and working at conferences and banquets, as well as housekeeping, concierge and guest services.
During your apprenticeship you’ll combine working for an employer with studying at college – usually attending once a week – and, because you’ll be doing a real job for a real employer, you’ll get paid too!
What’s more, you’ll be supported throughout your training by a college assessor who will visit you in the workplace to make sure you are meeting your targets and that both you and your employer are getting the most out of your apprenticeship.
You’ll do your training in the Academy restaurant, at the Metro One campus in the city centre, which boasts a professional training kitchen equipped with industry-standard kit and a fully licensed 42-seater restaurant which is open to the public and serves a range of delicious lunches and evening meals to customers during term time.
We have excellent relationships with local employers and develop training to meet the needs of their businesses, so you can be assured you’ll gain the skills that they are looking for in their employees – and, if you impress them during your training, you may even be offered a job when you’ve completed apprenticeship and gained your qualification.
And, did you know that apprenticeships aren’t just for new staff? if you’re already employed in the hospitality industry and want to improve your skills and boost your promotion prospects you can benefit from apprenticeship training too – just ask your employer to email email@example.com and a member of the team will contact them to discuss your training further.
