Creative Apprenticeships - City of Wolverhampton College

Creative Apprenticeships

As an employer in the creative industry, offering apprenticeships is a great way to train new staff and for your business to benefit from an employee with the latest sector skills and knowledge.

With two programmes on offer – junior journalist and creative venue technician – apprenticeship training will enable your employees to develop the skills and knowledge needed to meet the demands of the business.

Apprentices will combine working for the organisation with studying towards achieving a set of occupational standards set by employers. In the workplace they will work alongside they’ll learn on-the-job by working alongside existing staff and in college will benefit from high quality teaching from tutors who have many years’ experience working in the industry themselves.

They will train in the creative studios on the Paget Road campus which are equipped with a range of industry-standard kit including a TV studio and editing suites with HD cameras & industry software, radio broadcasting suite, digital recording studio, Mac suite for music composition and sequencing and photographic studio; and creative venue apprentices will also get to work on live events at the Slade Rooms in the city centre.

What’s more, throughout their training, the apprentice will be supported by college staff who will work closely with you to ensure that the skills they are learning are what is required by your business and that they will achieve their full potential and career aspirations, as well as meet your business needs.

The college has a dedicated recruitment team to support employers in appointing an apprentice – including advertising vacancies, screening applicants and shortlisting candidates for interview; and with a talent pool of enthusiastic young people waiting for a business apprenticeship you can be sure you’ll be employing the right person for the job!

And, did you know that apprenticeships aren’t just for new staff? If you want to upskill and develop existing members of your team they can benefit from apprenticeship training too – email employerenquiries@wolvcoll.ac.uk and a member of the team will contact you to discuss your requirements further.
