As an employer in the engineering industry, offering apprenticeships is a great way to train new staff and for your business to benefit from an employee with the latest sector skills and knowledge.
We offer apprenticeships to train engineering fitters, engineering manufacturing technicians, engineering operatives, engineering technicians and metal fabricators, with specialist pathways in electrical and electronics, fabrication and welding, maintenance, machining, mechanical manufacturing, mechatronics, and technical support, meaning your employee will be equipped with the skills needed to meet the demands of the business.
Apprentices will combine working for the company with studying towards a set of occupational standards at college – usually one day per week – and will train in our industry-standard engineering workshops on the Paget Road campus which are equipped with welding booths, maintenance equipment, programmable logic controllers, rapid prototyping machines, circuit assembly equipment, lathes, CNCs and milling machines, and a specialist computer-aided design suite with the latest CAD drafting facilities.
What’s more, the engineering workshops operate as a modern manufacturing plant and incorporate Lean Systems – including improvement processes, elimination of waste and developing smarter working practices – into all processes, meaning apprentices will gain additional knowledge of these important factors during their training.
Throughout their training the apprentice will be supported by college staff who will work closely with you to ensure that the skills they are learning are what is required by your business and that they will achieve their full potential and career aspirations, and meet your business needs.
The college has a dedicated recruitment team to support employers in appointing an apprentice – including advertising vacancies, screening applicants and shortlisting candidates for interview; and with a talent pool of enthusiastic young people waiting for a business apprenticeship you can be sure you’ll be employing the right person for the job!
And apprenticeships aren’t just for new staff! If you want to upskill and develop existing members of your team they can benefit from apprenticeship training too – email email@example.com and a member of the team will contact you to discuss your requirements further.
