If you want to work in engineering, you’ll learn the skills you need for your future career in our modern engineering workshops at our brand new campus at our Wellington Road Campus.

The £8.1 million Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre, which opened in September 2024, was purpose-built for automotive and engineering studies and boasts state-of-the-art workshops and training areas.

The engineering department boasts:

  • dedicated workshops and fabrication
  • CAD and welding suites
  • CNC milling machines
  • CNC and manual lathes
  • 3D printers
  • mechatronic t-rigs
  • a laser cutter
  • Torsion and Universal testing machines
  • FANUC robots

The engineering centre operates as a modern manufacturing plant and incorporates Lean Systems – including improvement processes, elimination of waste and developing smarter working practices – into all its courses, something that will look great on your CV and impress employers when you are applying for jobs in the future.

What’s more, excellent links with local employers will ensure you develop the skills they are looking for in their workforce and have led to many students being offered an apprenticeship, which is a great way of combining working for an employer with studying for a qualification at college.
