I have been able to put nearly every skill I learnt at college into what I am doing now and I feel so lucky to have found this job as it’s a hard industry to get into, “ said 21-year-old Zach Zangaro who is studying for the two-year HND in Music (Live Sound and Events).

He added: “Music is one of my passions and I wanted to carry on studying it after I’d done my GCSEs but, as my school didn’t have the facilities to offer the sort of course I was looking for, a teacher recommended the college instead.  I went along to an open day, met the tutor, had a look at the studios and signed up for the Level 3 diploma in music technology

Zach, who then progressed to the HND, continued: “Studying at college was way more fun than school – being there and doing work in the Study Hub or the canteen felt like home and I knew how important it was to get involved in practical and written work so that in the future I won’t panic about being thrown into certain situations.

“It feels incredible to be working in the industry now – I work as a crew member for a company called Samuel Leeds, which runs courses and seminars, and am involved in setting up events, testing microphones, mic running and ushering – everything that I have been doing on my course so I feel very confident when doing my job.

“There are many ways to become successful and get into the career you want, you need to be headstrong and committed and you will achieve what you want to achieve – this job is my dream job and I’m going to keep learning from it.”
